About This Class
Mysore is the traditional method for practicing Ashtanga yoga. Students learn a series of postures with individual instruction from the teacher. Each student learns at their own speed and builds a practice over time. In Mysore class everyone’s practice is unique and instruction is personalized. No yoga experience is needed to begin.
You may arrive any time between 6:00 and 8:00 am on weekdays and between 9:00 and 10:00 am on Sunday. New students can expect to spend 45 minutes to an hour for their first class. Learn more about our Mysore-style classes under Getting Started.
Moon Days & Ashtanga
Ashtanga yoga practitioners traditionally observe rest days on the new and full moons. At Birmingham Yoga, we honor this tradition by canceling Mysore-style and Led Primary classes on these days, allowing time for rest and reflection.
