Beginner Classes

If you’re new or returning to yoga or new to our studio, please consider the following classes to help you begin your practice with us.

Mysore Style Classes

Mysore style is the traditional method for learning and practicing Ashtanga Yoga and is our most accessible class. Students are guided individually through a customized practice one pose at a time. The learning is progressive in nature and students build a personal practice over a period of time. Learn more about Mysore style classes HERE including FAQ.

Intro to Ashtanga Series

This four class series is for those who want to learn the fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga. Students will be guided through the initial sequence of postures progressively building their practice each week. Students will be introduced to philosophy, breathing techniques and the benefits of practicing in Mysore style classes. Register HERE.

Ashtanga Basics

This weekly class is suitable for beginners, individuals newer to Ashtanga, those rejoining after a break or anyone who appreciates a slower tempo. Class will include sun salutations, basic standing postures and few seated and closing postures with a pace and structure adapted to the group.

Ashtanga 101

This workshop is a condensed version of our Intro Series. Students will learn sun salutations, the initial sequence of standing and closing postures of Ashtanga yoga. Students will also be introduced to philosophy, breathing techniques and the benefits and strategy for building a consistent practice.

Private Instruction

Private instruction is a great way to begin because you have the teacher’s full attention. Come alone or bring a friend. We have several pricing options and times available starting at $80. Email magiccityyogi@gmail.com to schedule.

Congratulations on your desire to begin (or begin again) a yoga practice. The only requirement is a sincere desire to learn. We are glad you are here and welcome you just as you are. Here are some tips for your first class.

Bring a yoga mat if you have one

Dress comfortably

Don’t wear perfume or excessive jewelry

Leave your shoes in the lobby

Be prepared to try something new!
