Whether you are interested in deepening your own practice or you feel the call to teach, the Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training program is committed to the personal success of each individual.

Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training is a 200 hour yoga teacher training certification program specifically designed to provide a rich environment for learning. Within this training you will discover a strong foundation of acquiring knowledge, utilizing teaching methods, experiencing asana, and consistently applying the principles of the eight-limb path.

You will have the opportunity to deepen both your asana and meditation practice and the practice of yoga in your daily life. This program prepares you to instruct Beginner Level 1 and Level 2 classes.

Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training program is a Registered School with Yoga Alliance.

Aug 17-18 (Times to be announced…if coming from Birmingham you can make these hours up in Birmingham)

200 hour Teacher Training Immersion

Tentative Times Each Day ~ 5:00am – 9:00am and 12:00pm – 4:30pm

Morning sessions of training will be held at Juniper Swim and Fitness Center, 800 NE 6th St. Bend, OR 97701

Sample Week Intensive Schedule:

5:00am – 5:30am Japji (optional)
5:30am – 6:00am Kundalini Yoga
6:00am – 7:15am Pranayama and Chanting
7:15am – 9:00am Ashtanga/Vinyasa Led or Self Guided Practice
09:00am – 12:00pm Break
12:00pm – 4:30pm Class and Discussion

In addition to Scheduled Sessions

Students must complete an additional 20 workshop hours, cultivate a daily practice, attend weekly public class, observe and assist a class twice a month with Akasha or Teachers approved by Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training totaling 500 hours.

Requirements:

It is important that you are sincere in your commitment and that you are healthy physically, mentally and emotionally.

Yoga can be practiced by all and we do not want to discourage anyone who has the right intention however the training will be challenging physically and mentally and it is important that you are able to allow these changes to unfold.

During this exploration one may experience feelings of comfort, discomfort, happiness, sadness, joy and fear all of which are equally important in our growth.

We do recommend a minimum of 1 year of Hatha Yoga Practice before attending our Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Payment in full prior to July 1, 2013  - $2,500

Installment Plan:

Tuition paid in 2 installments plus deposit –  $2,700.
No penalty for early payment.

Installment Payment:

Deposit             $250   Due prior to 1st day of Training
Installment 1     $1,350   Due July 10, 2013
Installment 2     $1,100   Due Aug 10, 2013

There will be no refunds given after the start of the program.

Tuition does not include required reading material.

You will need to bring your yoga mat and manual to each training session.

Tuition includes 180 classroom hours. Students must complete an additional 20 workshop hours, cultivate a daily practice, attend weekly public class, observe and assist  4  classes a month with Akasha or Teachers approved by Birmingham yoga teacher training program totaling 500 hours.

  • Yoga history, styles, & evolution
  • Yoga Sutra’s and philosphy
  • Learn Sanskrit names of asana
  • Pranayama & the use of breath
  • Yogic Diet/Ayurveda
  • Chakras and bandhas
  • Meditation – developing deeper levels of awareness
  • Kriyas and chants in the tradition of Kundalini yoga
  • Numerology
  • Asana Emphasis will be given to the Asthanga Primary Series as taught by Sri Pattabhi Jois both Led and Mysore style
  • Restorative and Vinyasa Krama
  • Basic yogic anatomy & physiology
  • Learning Alignment & how to avoid injuries for your body
  • Art of sequencing to create a fluid & balanced class
  • Verbal & physical adjustments
  • Ability to develop & communicate a class that teaches & inspires
  • How to safely correct others performing asana
  • Ethics The business of yoga
