Whether you are interested in deepening your own practice or you feel the call to teach, the Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training program is committed to the personal success of each individual.
Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training is a 200 hour yoga teacher training certification program specifically designed to provide a rich environment for learning. Within this training you will discover a strong foundation of acquiring knowledge, utilizing teaching methods, experiencing asana, and consistently applying the principles of the eight-limb path.
You will have the opportunity to deepen both your asana and meditation practice and the practice of yoga in your daily life. This program prepares you to instruct Beginner Level 1 and Level 2 classes.
Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training program is a Registered School with Yoga Alliance.

Each Trainee is required to attend the week long immersion and all of the weekends to receive a certification. If you are unable to attend some of the training hours, you may be able to schedule a private session at an additional charge.
10 Day Immersion (Oct 13th – 22nd)
Fri 6:15pm – 8:15pm ~ Sat 7:00am-4:30pm ~ Sunday 7:30am – 3:30pm
Mon-Fri – 5:00am – 10:00am and 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Weekend Training Sessions with Akasha will meet
Fri 6:15pm – 8:15pm ~ Sat 6:00am – 4:00pm ~ Sun 7:30am – 3:30pm
Weekend Training Sessions with Birmingham Yoga Faculty will meet
Sat 7:00am – 4:30pm ~ Sun 7:30am – 3:30pm
Training weekends are held at Birmingham Yoga Studio at 605 37th Street South Birmingham, AL 35222.
Sample Day during 10 day Immersion:
5:00am – 6:30am Kundalini Yoga
6:30am – 7:30am Pranayama and Chanting
7:45am – 10:00am Ashtanga/Vinyasa Led or Self Guided Practice
10:00am – 12:00pm Break
12:00pm – 4:00pm Class and Discussion
In addition to Scheduled Sessions
Students must complete an additional 10 workshop hours, cultivate a daily practice, attend weekly public class, observe and assist a class twice a month with Akasha or Teachers approved by Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training totaling 370 hours.
It is important that you are sincere in your commitment and that you are healthy physically, mentally and emotionally.
Yoga can be practiced by all and we do not want to discourage anyone who has the right intention however the training will be challenging physically and mentally and it is important that you are able to allow these changes to unfold.
During this exploration one may experience feelings of comfort, discomfort, happiness, sadness, joy and fear all of which are equally important in our growth.
We do recommend a minimum of 1 year of Yoga Practice before attending our Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Payment in full prior to Sept 1 2017 – $2,750 (receive a $200 early registration discount).
Tuition paid in 3 installments plus deposit – $2,950.

There will be no refunds given after the start of the program.
Tuition does not include required reading material.
It is recommended you bring your yoga mat and manual to each training session.
Tuition includes 180 classroom hours. Students must cultivate a daily practice, attend weekly public class, observe and assist classes twice a month with Akasha or Teachers approved by Birmingham yoga teacher training program totaling 360 hours.

- Learn Sanskrit names of asana
- Pranayama & the use of breath
- Yogic Diet/Ayurveda
- Chakras and bandhas
- Meditation – developing deeper levels of awareness
- Kundalin yoga Kriyas and chants in the tradition of Kundalini yoga
- Asana Emphasis will be given to the Asthanga Primary Series as taught by Sri Pattabhi Jois both Led and Mysore style
- Restorative and Gentle Somatic Yoga ( in the tradition of Thomas Hanna).

- Learning Alignment & how to avoid injuries for your body
